Mission and OutreachFPCN works with others around us to meet our community's needs. Community NeedsFPCN's deacons have a duty to minister to those who are in need, to the sick, to the friendless, and to any who may be in distress both within and beyond the community of faith. They play a leading role in our community work. Every Sunday, deacons deliver flowers to home-bound members of our congregation. We have an ongoing food drive in which food donated by church members is distributed by FPCN's deacons to local residents in need. Every November, our deacons put together food baskets to be distributed to needy people in Queens for Thanksgiving. In addition, we regularly collect much-needed supplies to send to our troops overseas. In 2003, we began an urban farm project in which we grow fruits and vegetables on our church property to be donated to local food banks. Local Groups at FPCNSouth Asian Youth Action (SAYA) is an organization that works with primarily high-school-age children from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Guyana, and Trinidad. SAYA organizes language classes, SAT workshops, and social gatherings. SAYA meets at FPCN several days a week. Contact the organization directly at (718) 651-3484 or see their Web site for more information. |
