Harmonica and Woodwind Quintet Concert on Sun. May 4

On Sun. May 4 at 1:30 PM, FPCN will host a concert in the sanctuary featuring music performed by harmonica player Jiayi He, accompanied by a woodwind quintet. Admission is $10.

Jiayi He has won prestigious awards in America, Europe, and the Far East. Performing concerts around the world, he plays different kinds of harmonicas, including chromatic, diatonic, as well as the largest and smallest harmonicas in the world. He also plays the sheng, the oldest Chinese reed instrument.

Jiayi He will play with a woodwind quintet consisting of flute (Abbe Krieger), oboe (Suzette Jacobs), clarinet (Aaron Abramovitz), and bassoon (Kukiko Otani). Jenny He will also play piano and David Mondenhauer will play horn.

The concert will also include the world premiere of the Cantabile for Solo Harmonica and Woodwind Quintet by renowned composer Michael Isaacson, written especially for Jiayi He.

The concert program will include the Blue Danube Waltz, the Skater's Waltz, the Turkish March, the Flight of the Bumblebee, the Little Swan Dance, music by Gershwin, blues music, and wind quintet selections from Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte.
