Ongoing Fundraising for Church Repairs

Created: Sunday, January 15, 2012

FPCN is continuing to raise money to make much-needed repairs in our sanctuary (which is over 100 years old) and other parts of our property.

The necessary repairs to our church include:

  • Electrical upgrade: $50,000
  • Repair of church front entrance doors: $4,920
  • Repair of church bell tower door: $2,480

Since we received a $5,000 donation to the electrical upgrade fund, we are planning work for upgrading some of the electrical wiring in the church sanctuary. Since we raised $6,665 through our recent church raffle, we are planning to install new carpeting for the church sanctuary.

In 2011, FPCN's choirs held a Palm Sunday concert in the sanctuary at 2:00 PM to celebrate Jesus' entry into Jerusalem and help raise money for the church. The church choirs performed an Easter musical called "For Such a One as This." The musical told the story of Jesus' sacrifice of himself on the cross for our sins. This concert was featured on a report on the NY1 cable television station (a link to the video report is available on the NY1 web site).

To donate, make checks payable to the First Presbyterian Church of Newtown. In the memo section of your check, identity the repair fund to which you are donating (see the three repairs listed above). Bring the checks to a worship service or mail to:
